Hidden Wasp Nest

Wasp Nest Exposed

I like to get outdoors and walk when the weather cools down, of course with my camera in hand, because who knows what I might find.

I had been watching this wild grape vine on a fence hoping it would produce some grapes.  There is not anything better than wild grapes for jelly.  I had no idea there was hidden activity going on under those leaves.  When the leaves turned yellow and fell off the vine, the nest of wasps was exposed.  I got as close as I could for a good photo but when they gave me that mean look and spread their wings I decided it was time to back off.  I told them that they could have their space.  Yes, I talk to nature.

Of course, with the first cold snap, they will die but the eggs in the nest will hatch in the spring.
